God is The Source of Success and Happiness (Noon)
FOOD FOR THE SOUL
1 John 5:1-5
1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
In the middle of the jungle, there were a variety of animals. A turtle was often teased by his friends because it walked slowly, especially by mouse deer and rabbit. “Hey, turtle! Why are you carrying your house around? That’s why you’re so slow! “said the mouse deer. The little tortoise came home sadly. His father asked his son, “Why do you look so sad?” The little turtle told how friends always mocked him for the shell on his back. The father just smiled as he answered wisely, “You don’t need to mind their words. One day you will understand how lucky it is to be a turtle.”
Some time passed. That day, suddenly animals were running. “Run, run quickly, and save yourself! There is a flock of lions on the hunt!” shouted the deer. All the small animals ran to save themselves. Even the little turtle tried to move quickly, he could only walk slowly. He was terrified to hear the lions approaching. He saw a mouse deer being pounced on by a lion. The little turtle hid in its shell. After feeling safe, he ventured to see. So many dead bodies. But he survived because he could hide in his shell. He then remembered his father’s words and since then he never felt sad anymore even though there were still friends who mocked his shell.
Without us knowing it, we might act like the little turtle. We put our happiness in other people’s hands. When people look down on us, we feel worthless and broken. Know that God has created us with strengths, the best version of us in His sight. Starting today, remember that our happiness and success is not determined by what other people say, or what other people do to us. Our success and happiness are determined by God and ourselves. Believe and have faith that whatever bad happens in our life, does not determine our future.
The success and happiness of our life are DEFINED by God and OURSELVES, not others.
1. Do you blame someone else for what happened in your life?
2. What will you get if you hold others responsible for your happiness and success?
3. After you know that success and happiness are determined by God and yourself, what is your decision?
“Father, forgive us if all this time we have had the wrong perspective. Now we realize that whatever others do to us does not determine our future because our future is in Your hands and we are responsible for our own happiness. Thank you, Father, You have awakened us through Your words. In the name of the Lord Jesus, we pray. Amen.”
