God, The Source of Great Joy (Noon)

Isaiah 51:9-16

Isaiah 51:11-12 11 So the ransomed of the Lord shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall flee away. 12 “I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?

An ancient story from China. There was an old farmer who owned a horse that is used to cultivate his fields. One day the horse ran away in the hills and when the neighbors heard the news, they sympathized with the old man for his bad luck. But the farmer replied, “Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?” A week later, the horse returned with a herd of wild horses from the mountains, and this time the neighbors congratulated the old farmer on his good luck. “Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?” said the old farmer.

Then, when the old farmer’s son tried to tame one of the horses, he fell off the horse’s back and broke his leg. All the neighbors again agreed that this was bad luck. The farmer replied, “Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?” A few weeks later, soldiers from the government entered the villages and every healthy young man had to go to war. When they saw that the old farmer’s son had broken his leg, they didn’t choose him. A few weeks after the war, there was news that many children of the old farmer’s neighbor had died on the battlefield. All the villagers were saddened and said, the old farmer was very lucky because he did not participate in the war. The old farmer replied, “Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?”

Like the old farmer’s story, sometimes in our life, it seems like everything is going well, but other times, things are going in a bad situation, even with that situation we are having a hard time. The question is, when everything goes well, then we become joyful and thinking God with us? But if on the other hand, when we are in a bad situation, then we become discouraged and think that God left us? Realize and believe that God, the source of comfort, will continue to be with us and give us great joy, as long as we don’t become weak and keep believing. Make sure the guarantee remains in your heart because the devil always has various ways to steal it.
