Our Hunger and Thirst Determine the Work of The Holy Spirit (Noon)
FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring;
For newborns, doctors will recommend them to be fed with milk every 2 hours. As the babies get older, the time interval for giving milk becomes longer. From every 2 hours, then to every 3 hours, every 4 hours, and so on. However, the amount of milk given is increased. When the babies start learning to eat, the need for milk will decrease and is replaced by food intake.
As babies grow into adolescents, they have a higher level of need for food and drink. In puberty, teenagers will feel hungrier because their bodies need more intake for their growth and development. Their parents will provide milk and food according to the level of each individual’s needs so that they don’t starve or thirst.
If humans need food and drink to live, grow, and develop properly, so it is with our spirituality. As spirit humans who have a soul and live in a physical body, we also need spiritual nourishment. And as a good Father, He will surely give us what we need. The hungrier and thirstier we are, the more powerful and extraordinary the Holy Spirit will work. In 2021, our church receives the rhema: The Year of The Holy Spirit. If we feel we don’t need anything or are okay with how we are now, then the Holy Spirit will find it difficult to work. On the other hand, if we start this year with thirst and hunger for God, we feel we need God, really long and wait for Him like dry land thirsty for water, then the Holy Spirit will be poured out like heavy rain. He will satisfy and refresh our bodies, souls, and spirits, even His blessings extend to our children and grandchildren.
The Holy Spirit works based on the HUNGER AND THIRST of His church for Him!
1. Have you made Him first and foremost in your life?
2. How deep is your thirst and hunger for the Holy Spirit?
3. What difference that you feel about the work of the Holy Spirit when you are truly thirsty and hungry for Him?
“Oh God, forgive us if we do not prioritize You. Thank you for Your words that have reminded us. We wish that in this new year we can have even more hunger and thirst for You. We want to make You first and foremost in our lives. In the name of the Lord Jesus, we pray. Amen.”
