Receive and Put the Word of God in Your Heart (Noon)

Luke 8:4-15

Luke 8:15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

Perhaps we ever spoke to someone who is always defensive when we try to explain the mistake he made or what he should have done. He’d have a thousand reasons to justify his actions. Maybe we got annoyed and it’s like an unending debate. This is a sign that the person’s heart is still hard and it will be very difficult to accept input even if it is for his / her good.

It is not a coincidence that God’s word often uses agricultural terms so that it is easy for everyone to understand from ancient times to the present. As in planting, the first thing to do is to loosen the soil. Because no matter how good seed is, it will be useless if it is not planted in loose soil. It will be difficult for the seeds to take root, grow, let alone bear fruit. Likewise, the Bible describes our hearts as soil. If the soil of our heart is good, the seed of the word we receive will be planted, rooted, and even bear fruit when we diligently care for it (Luke 8:15)

No matter how severe and devastating the state of our souls are, there is one medicine that will never fail, it is THE WORD OF GOD. It is not without reason that God’s words are said ‘living Word’ because they have the power to SAVE our souls. Therefore, if we are to experience TOTAL RESTORATION, we need to gently receive God’s words and instill them in our hearts. Receiving gently means deliberately and readily receiving what God offers as good, and therefore we do not argue or reject it. Only then will those words be planted in our hearts. Get rid of the seed of bitterness and all the dirty and evil seeds, and fill our hearts with the word. Take good care of it until it is planted, until it grows. Then complete restoration must occur in our lives!

If we are to experience TOTAL RESTORATION, we need to RECEIVE the Word of God gently and PUT them IN THE HEART.

1. Have you received God’s Word with a soft heart?
2. What are the things that usually harden your heart against God’s Word?
3. What can you do to make the soil of your heart fertile and ready to receive God’s word?

”Father, thank you for the revelation of the power of Your Word. Soften our hearts so that the word we receive can be planted, grow, and even bear fruit. We believe Your word is able to change and bring complete restoration to all aspects of our lives. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.”
