Step of Faith to Fix Our Hearts (Evening)

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Matthew 5:17-48

RHEMA

Matthew 5:23-24 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

In February 1993, the son of Mrs. Jonshon Laramiun Byrd was shot dead in a fight. She was very angry and sued the killer of her son in court with the maximum punishment. The killer was finally sentenced to 25.5 years of imprisonment. It did not stop there. Due to her revenge and anger, Mrs. Jonshon formed an association of mothers who suffered the same experience as her. But as time went by, Mrs. Jonshon who has known God began to realize that what she was doing still cannot bring her son to come back to life. She lost the peace. She then decided to meet her son’s killer in the prison and released forgiveness.

Everything has changed since then. “Not forgiving is like cancer. It will eat you inside out”, she said. “I forgive the killer of my son, it will not diminish what he did to my son. BUT THE FORGIVENESS IS FOR ME”, she said again. And unexpectedly, forgiveness leads to a great transformation of the killer. He changed. He works earnestly and frequently visits the prisons and churches to speak about forgiveness and reconciliation. He becomes a blessing and shows the solution for many people. God truly works amazingly.

We are often being hurt by others. It is hard for us to make peace and forgive them. We think that we will be a loser if we easily forgive others. On the other hand, if we hurt others intentionally or unintentionally, the pride and fear of embarrassment always prevent us from saying the word sorry. But God wants us to have a settled heart before Him. If we are being hurt, we HAVE to forgive. If we hurt others, we MUST apologize. It is not easy. But when we learn to obey, something mighty and amazing will happen. We will experience total healing, being set free from all bondage, and there is real peace in our hearts. Today, let us take a step of faith to make fix our hearts and forgive. God will be pleased and He will smile to see our maturity and big-hearted. Hallelujah!
