The Gift of Tongues (Noon)
1 Corinthians 14:2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
That morning, Melody went on her motorbike to the supermarket near her house. She remembered that she was stopping at an intersection to wait her turn to cross. But a second later, she was in a very strange place to her. Quiet, lonely, and no one there. She walked down the long hallway full of questions in her mind. Amid her confusion, suddenly there was a very bright and dazzling light before her. “Are you God?” she asked the figure standing in front of her. Before she opened her eyes, her body seemed to be pulling back. At the same time, she heard a warm voice that said “Your time has not come”.
Melody heard a man’s voice say, “We have done everything we have done, but the reality says it is different. We are deeply sorry for you. Please the family can sign this death certificate.” Hearing this, Melody was very surprised and immediately shouted, “Hey! I’m still here!” How shocked the doctor and her child were in the room because it turned out that she came back to life and not only speak but also spoke in tongues. Her family welcomed her. But they all wondered what happened to her mother that the first thing she said when she returned from the dead was tongues. She was no less surprised because before that she could not speak in tongues. However, after this incident, Melody received the gift of speaking in tongues.
Unlike other languages in the world, tongues is the language used to speak to God. Tongues cannot be learned because tongues are one of the various spiritual gifts given by God to His people (1 Cor 12: 10b). If we have been given the gift in tongues, then make good use of this gift. The same thing is when we give a gift to someone and that person wears it, of course, we will feel happy. Likewise with the Holy Spirit. When we have received the gift of tongues, then use that gift not only to build ourselves and our faith (Jude 1:20) but also to build an intimate relationship with Him because it will certainly please Him.
The GIFT OF TONGUES is from God.
1. Have you received the gift of tongues? If not, ask God to give you.
2. How often do you use tongues and on what occasions?
3. How do you feel that speaking in tongues builds you up?
“Lord, thank you for the spiritual gifts that You have given us. We long to build an intimate relationship with You so that we may become Your light and witnesses through these gifts. In the name of the Lord Jesus, we pray. Amen.”
