The Living and Powerful Spirit (Morning)

John 14:16-17 Then I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he resides with you and will be in you.

Mr. Peterson teaches religion at a certain college. As promised, it would be an open debate about God’s existence. His student opens the session with a personal statement: if God truly exists, where is He when my father was ill? Surely He could heal him, right? Another student replies: in my opinion, there’s no God. God is an abstract concept, just like Greek or Roman pantheons’ gods. Each student has their points and perspective. Class is so chaotic and it’s about lunch break.

Mr. Peterson asks a student: do you have a brain? The said student feels offended replies: of course what kind of question is that? More importantly, is it relatable to our discussion? Mr. Peterson replies: yes it is. Now if do not mind: why do you believe you have a brain instead of two? Do you even see your brain? What makes you believe that you have a brain? The student answers: many medical books say so. Multiple scientific kinds of research and journals say so. To conclude his class Mr. Peterson exclaims those writing that books and journals doing those researches never touched or see their brains as well. How could you argue against that? But you believe them. The class goes silent. Mr. Peterson continues: Now, the Bible was written by multiple witnesses. First-hand evidence and experience. Those who wrote the Bible interacted directly with God. But what makes you doubt its authenticity?

How long we want to be non-believers? Do not want to believe because your senses couldn’t catch His image. Today’s rhema reminds us, Holy Spirit is always with you even if you cannot see or know Him. He is your Advocate. He will help you no matter what but it would be even nicer if you strengthen your relationship with Him. Let’s start this year by believing that He is walking with us.

Although INVISIBLE to human eyes and perception, but the Holy Spirit is REAL, ALIVE, and POWERFUL.

1. Do you believe that the Holy Spirit is real and powerful? Please explain.
2. Tell us your opinion, why should we believe in the existence and authority of the Holy Spirit?
3. Can you tell us your personal experiences with the Holy Spirit?

“O good Father, we are grateful because You send Holy Spirit upon us. Even though our eyes and perception cannot see and comprehend Him, we believe He is there, resides in our hearts. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.”
