The Relationship God Desires (Noon)
James 4:8a Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Most people seek success in their work and carrier. However, some of them fail to succeed due to their lack of consistency. A badminton men’s double champion, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamulyo, and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon said they spend a minimum of 5 hours of practice every day. Like Kevin and Marcus, every professional has a consistent personal practice schedule every day. BTS, a well-known boyband from South Korea, revealed that they spent 12-15 hour to practice every day in their debut year. It is their consistency that took them to their success.
Consistency is also needed in every aspect of our life. For example, in building a relationship, a man who falls in love with a woman will fight to have a consistent relationship with the woman he loves. He will need to understand what she likes to get to meet or communicate with her.
Like plants that cannot grow overnight, our spiritual life will not root strong and be fruitful instantly. Therefore, if we truly love God and want to strongly root and be fruitful in Him, we need to establish a permanent and close relationship with God. Just like we hate an unstable internet connection, God also doesn’t like an interruptive relationship. What God wants is a consistent and maximum relationship. Not only when we are down and in need of His help or when we are happy, but we also need to make sure to have a sustainable and consistent relationship in every situation of our life. We will have a productive and fruitful life being connected to God all the time.
GOD WANTS a CONSISTENT AND MAXIMUM RELATIONSHIP with Him.
1. How do you rate your relationship with God today? Have you had a consistent relationship with God?
2. If not, what are the constraints?
3. What is your commitment to building a consistent and maximum relationship with God?
“O Father, forgive us who haven’t been consistent with having a close relationship with You. We know that we need to be strong rooted in You to be fruitful for Your kingdom. We want to learn to be more consistent and overcome our fleshly desires and sharpen our spirit. Let us please You with our fruits. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.”
