Victory Over Your Past and Heavenly Glory for You (Morning)
TODAY’S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
1 Corinthians 15:40-44
1 Corinthians 15:43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.
Jabez, a famous biblical figure, was named by her mother. His name’s meaning in Hebrew is: sorrowful. His mother gave Jabez this name because she endured long and painstakingly agonizing labor. For Jewish back then, a name was something important, a substantial necessity. We could only imagine how difficult it was for Jabez. He became a laughing stock for his Jewish community. Even his mother despised him, he only reminded her of pain and suffering whenever she called her by name. His community laughed at him, his mother disowned hated him, what was left for him in this world?
Then, Jabez rose. He would no longer let people dictated what should be done with his own life. His bitter past could never stop him or made him weak. He would put his life in God’s hands and nothing else. To promise God once gave to Abraham and his descendants, God will eternally bless Abraham and his descendants. He kept God’s promise and covenant and he claimed it.
Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only you would greatly bless me and expand my territory! May your hand be with me! Keep me from harm so I might not endure pain!”And God answered it. Jabez was more respected than his brothers.
We never know for sure, of Jabez ever had bitterness, anger, or hatred, Bible never mentions it thoroughly. What we know for sure is that Jabez the Sorrowful was able to emerge victoriously and made God deemed him worthy. He rose in prophetic prayers held His promise in a high place. God changed his life, from nobody to somebody. Worthless to worthy. If LORD was able to do these thousands of years ago, He still can do this right here right now. Open our hearts, just like Jabez once did. Past had already happened, it’s time for Him to heal you and bring you into His Glory.
You may BE RIDICULED BY OTHERS, but at this time and beyond He will GLORIFY YOU.
1. Is there any current experience that makes you feel you’re being ridiculed or else?
2. Did you bring that to God, and make sure you no longer hold any grudges in your heart?
3. What makes you believe that He can raise you after those terrible things happened?
“Jesus Christ, I believe my future is in Your hands. My past may be disastrous, I may be laughing stocks for men and the world, but I believe that You are there for me. Enable me to follow Your lead and restore my life. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.”
