A Purposeful Fasting (Morning)

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

A weighing scale can be inaccurate with prolonged use. An inaccurate scale is a disaster for both the customers and sellers. The scale could lose its accuracy because of many reasons: damaged, prolonged use beyond its maximum threshold, or improper handling. Therefore it should be calibrated regularly and dealt with extreme care.

If a human could put so much effort into an inanimate object, what hinders us from doing so to our hearts and spiritual life? Anxiety, sorrow, despair, and disappointment could negatively affect our hearts and lives. Makes us further away from His grace. And by His grace, our church is currently fasting, abstaining, and refraining from food, drink, and other pleasures. To “recalibrate” our spiritual senses and draws His grace closer to us. Besides, He sees our motivation, to not prioritize experiencing miracles but more importantly, to seek His face and grace.

If you set your heart, goal, and motivation straight then He will do His part. His promise is yes and Amen. Right now, focus your mind, heart, and soul on Him and Him alone. Together, for three weeks, let’s our fast and pray to be deemed correct. Don’t let your agenda take place. Ask for Holy Spirit’s guidance to help you, to know which one you should pray for and needs your thorough attention. Also pray for our church’s vision, our cell group movement, and each of your cell group members. Pray intensely until you could see the perfect momentum takes shape and happen in front of you.

Have a CLEAR PURPOSE while fasting and do it WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

1. Do you have a clear purpose while fasting? If not, why?
2. In your opinion, why must we have a clear purpose while fasting and must do it wholeheartedly?
3. In your opinion, are there things that make us unable to have a clear purpose for fasting and what will you do to fix it?

“LORD, we are grateful for Your everlasting kindness in our lives. Teach us to always look upon You and have a clear understanding and goal while fasting. Enable our spirit and body to be completely committed to Your will and does it wholeheartedly. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.”
