We Are God’s Special Creation (Noon)

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

1 Peter 2:1-10

RHEMA

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

One day, a lion cub got separated from the flock and got lost in the forest. A farmer who was hunting saw the little lion cub and felt pity. He brought the cubs back to the farm. There the lion cub is raised among livestock such as sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, and dogs. The cub imitated the behavior of the animals around them and ate the food eaten by them. It never roared or scratched with its big sharp nails.

One time, the farmer went hunting again into the forest. The lion cub, now an adult lion, was taken along. While lurking and aiming at a deer with his rifle, suddenly a big lion appeared from the bush and pounced on the deer from behind. The farmer’s lion saw the incident with wide eyes, how the big lion with deadly speed and accuracy killed the deer. With its sharp teeth and strong claws, the deer was eventually killed. Something stirred up in the farmer’s lion, now he realized that the ranch was not his real home. The forest was where it should be. Wheat and grass were not his food, but fresh meat was what he liked. When the farmer wanted to take him home, the lion decided to stay in the forest and learn to become the real lion king of the jungle.

God created man in His image (Gen. 1:27). We are His most special creations. However, over time, disappointment, bitterness and various bad things that we experience can damage our self-image. God’s Word reminds us to open our eyes and realize that we always remember that we are God’s creations that are very special and precious in His eyes. No matter how bad our past was, no matter how broken our self-image was, He is the God who is able to restore all of our lives. Don’t let the devil or anyone take the truth from us again.

REFLECTION

REALIZING that we are SPECIAL CREATION will RESTORE our broken self-image.

APPLICATIONS

1. Do you know that you are a very special creation of God?
2. Have you experienced anything that destroyed your self-image?
3. What will you do after knowing this truth?

PRAYER

“Thank God, because You created us in Your image. You have put many strengths in us so that we become Your special creation. We believe You are able to restore our broken image and to give us divine confidence so that we may achieve success in every aspect of our lives. In the name of the Lord Jesus, we pray. Amen.”

A Cure for Insecurity (Morning)

TODAY’S FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Judges 6:1-16

TODAY’S RHEMA

Judges 6:15 Gideon said to him, “But Lord, how can I deliver Israel? Just look! My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the youngest in my family.”

Gideon’s life story is truly inspirational. Under Midianite’s tyranny, Israelites were oppressed. Israelites prayed to God and God chose Gideon to be His judge and champion. A timid and shy individual, the first thing that crossed his mind when God chose him was: belittle himself, gently refused the offer.

His perception was tainted after so many years under constant suppression. He lost his confidence, self-image, and God’s promise as well. When the messenger of God called him, the courageous warrior he replied with his nation’s bitter sad life. When the LORD changed the subject and praised him, Gideon once again, tried to his failure by saying: he was the weakest and youngest, his tribe was the smallest. Three means luck when he tried to tempt the Almighty LORD by asked for a sign. When he was convinced, he obeyed all the LORD had said to him and delivered Israelites from Midianites.

Look at ourselves. Did we feel so worthless that it’s impossible for God to notice our existence? How often we take shelter behind hopelessness and our weaknesses. God cannot use your precious life if there are insecurities inside your heart and mind. We cannot reach the stars simply because we think we are too small. Build again your confidence from scratch, from the very beginning. Extend your arms to reach the chances He provides. He wants to rejuvenate our spirit and heal our lives so, but before that, all He wants to fix is your confidence.

REFLECTION

LOSING CONFIDENCE and BROKEN SELF IMAGE are leading to INSECURITY.

APPLICATIONS

1. How did you see yourself until recently?
2. In your opinion, why does He want to restore your confidence?
3. After reading today’s rhema, what concrete steps will you take to apply this in your day to day life?

TODAY’S PRAYER

“Jesus Christ, I am grateful because You give me today’s rhema. I believe it’s You that speak to me directly. Forgive me if until recently I feel worthless and insecure, and have doubts about Your promises. Teach me to always believe in You and never let our doubt overwhelm us. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.”

Losing Confidence Causes Us Not Able to Reach Full Potential (Evening)

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Psalm 8:1-10

RHEMA

Psalm 8:6 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

For a teenager, who is still so easily influenced by the words and views of others, appearance is something very important. You can imagine when a teenager loses all the hair on his body. Called bald, alien or a series of other names is definitely a very frightening specter. It would the teenager feel ashamed and inferior so that he completely avoids meeting other people even to go to school.

This is what Ps. Obaja Tanto Setiawan experienced in his youth. All the hair on his body had fallen out. As a result, he did not finish school. If he had not experienced total healing, he who is basically shy, surely could not work, serve, even preach and become a servant of God. There would be no Keluarga Allah church and all of us today. There will be multitudes of people who will miss God’s blessings and miracles. Praise God, Ps. Obaja rose up and experienced recovery so that now he mentors us and we may receive God’s messages that he delivers with power.

Insecurity keeps us from stepping out and trapped in stagnation so we can’t reach our full potential and miss the opportunity to experience big breakthroughs in our lives. When feelings of inferiority begin to attack, remember, and speak God’s words, that He has created us almost like God and has crowned us with glory and honor. Receive complete healing from God, receive restoration of our self-image. Start learning to be brave to do something new and bigger. Continue to build a close relationship with God so that we get divine confidence to welcome the fulfillment of God’s promise, Isaiah 60 happens to our lives.

REFLECTION

Losing confidence causes us NOT TO REACH FULL POTENTIAL.

APPLICATIONS

1. In your opinion, have you reached your full potential?
2. If not, what’s holding you back?
3. What will you do to increase divine confidence in your life?

PRAYER

“Jesus, thank you for reminding us of the importance of having divine confidence. Help us, Lord, to be able to reach our full potential so that you can use us as a useful instrument for the Kingdom of God. In the name of the Lord Jesus, we pray. Amen.”

The Main Reason We Lose Confidence (Morning)

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Numbers 13:1-33

RHEMA

Numbers 13:33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

Enrolling Junior High School, Lita no longer lives with her parents. She lives in her relative’s house because it is close to her new school. Previously she lived in the village, and she feels inferior. She feels she is less beautiful, not rich, and not very smart. This feeling makes her not confident when she is with her school friends. Several friends speak negatively about her and tease her because she speaks with an accent. She does not dare to take part in activities at school and always is hesitant to do everything. She does not believe in herself until she enters the university, so she often withdraws from friends.

The influence of negative speech is so strong that the Israelites were “poisoned” by the words of the spies. Of the 12 men whom Moses sent to spy out the land of Canaan, except for Joshua and Caleb, the other ten spies stated that there were giants there who were so strong that they made the Israelites just like grasshoppers. Small, weak, and impossible to win. Maybe many of us live from what people say. Our ears are so sensitive to what other people say about us. Especially if the comments are negative, we will continue to do so and eventually become insecure. What’s more, we can hate ourselves for always comparing with other people who we think are greater.

The main cause we lose self-confidence is the broken self-image. A person’s self-image can be broken by the words and judgments of others. Therefore, starting today, be selective in listening to the words around us. And vice versa, be careful in saying something to others. Only LISTEN and SAY encouraging words that can bring peace and build self-confidence. Because when we lose confidence, makes us fail to achieve what God has promised in our lives. By filtering what enters our ears and leaves our mouths, our self-image will be restored and we will have divine confidence that comes from God.

REFLECTION

THE BROKEN SELF-IMAGE is the MAIN CAUSE we lose confidence.

APPLICATIONS

1. Have you ever had a broken self-image?
2. What causes it? What are the consequences in your life?
3. How should you act to maintain a positive self-image?

PRAYER

“Jesus, we want to have the right self-image. Teach us to close our ears to the negative words around us and watch our mouths so that only the encouraging words we always speak. Thank you, Lord. In the name of the Lord Jesus, we pray. Amen.”

Self-Confidence: Restore (Morning)

TODAY’S FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Psalms 147:1-12

TODAY’S RHEMA

Psalms 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

Mary looked at her painting and whispers “it is… beautiful”. It took days to finish her masterpiece with oil on canvas. With this, a perfect grade shouldn’t be a problem. She put her painting on her bicycle and rode away to school. Because she was careless, she lost her balance and her painting fell. She hurriedly retrieved her painting and was relieved, “It is just some dust and dirt, wipe it with wet paper towels and it will be okay.” She continued her journey, on top of a river, another cyclist went passing her, startled, her painting was once again falling, but right now in the river. Her painting was muddy, wet, and almost unrecognizable.

Holding her tears, she returned to her home and then locked herself. There’s no way she could show her failure and let others appreciate her hard work. Her father was confused, “What happened? When he saw the mangled painting, he understood right away. He wiped the mud gently, dried it, and while he was waiting for it to dry, and made a new frame. When her father knocked on her door, still sobbing, Mary found her painting look not only better but more valuable.

What’s happened to Mary’s painting is happening right now. He created us intricately, flawless, perfect. But as life goes by, our image are damaged. Betrayed by our closest friends, failures, mistreated, depressed, or sinned. When we realize it, it was far too late, we find our image was badly disfigured. We feel unclean and unworthy. Then ‘the Father’ comes. With His sacrifice, He wiped our sins clean and restore our lives to its former glory.

REFLECTION

Unhandled FAILURES and PAST TRAUMA may make us LOSE confidence.

APPLICATIONS

1. Is there any failure that still haunts you and prevents you to step right up?
2. Why it is necessary to settle your failures up first?
3. How will you do about it?

TODAY’S PRAYER

“Good Father, how great Your love is. You still accept me as what I am and what I do. You make us worthy and restore my life to its former glory. Use this life as Your instruments of Glory. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.”

The Truth that Sets You Free (Evening)

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Galatians 5:1-15

RHEMA

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Betty has become a cell group leader a year ago. During that time, her spirit is always blazing. She seems tireless in inviting the members of her cell groups to grow together. She was known as a shy lady. She always refused when she was asked to lead a prayer. She was afraid that her prayers would sound bad and short in front of many people. She felt accused of not being worthy enough to pray. However, thanks to the guidance and prayers of his members, she was changed by God. Even her friends didn’t believe her when she said that she wanted to become a cell leader. But now she is proven to be able to lead a cell group with ten members.

To the Galatians, Apostle Paul reminded them that they have truly been freed by Christ. Christ has saved them perfectly. Christ has redeemed and paid in full. Therefore all those who believe in Him are no longer entangled again by sin but completely belong to Christ.

Tonight, let us examine ourselves. Have we experienced the freedom that God has given us? If so, then we should be grateful and earnest to repay the gift of God’s love. Let us use the freedom we have gained to bring more souls to Christ. However, if all this time our lives are still entangled with sin so that we are always insecure, always feel unworthy, or keep remembering past mistakes, then let’s immediately come to God and admit all our sins and mistakes. When God sees our repentance, it is certain that immediately we will be justified and God will bestow the freedom that He promised.

REFLECTION

BEING ENSLAVED BY SIN makes us INFERIOR, while TRUTH SETS US FREE.

APPLICATIONS

1. Is there any sin that holds you back and enslaves you today?
2. What did slavery to sin do to your life?
3. What is your commitment to true freedom from God?

PRAYER

“Father, we are grateful for by Your love we may receive freedom from all our past sins. Help us, Father. We want to continue to live in the truth so that the devil will not have the opportunity to accuse and destroy Your plan for our lives. In the name of the Lord Jesus, we pray. Amen.”

Live in the Holiness Brings the Grace of God down upon Our Lives (Noon)

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Psalm 25: 1-22

RHEMA

Psalm 25:14 The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.

A member of the online Keluarga Allah cell group shared a testimony of how God performed His extraordinary miracles. Starting from the healing miracles from Covid-19 to the financial miracles. God works in a mighty way. In this pandemic era, where a lot of people have been affected, especially financially, they have experienced breakthroughs after breakthroughs. Not only physically, but also a breakthrough in spirit. Before the pandemic, he only worked on hotel development projects only in the Jabodetabek area, but since this pandemic, he has been working on hotel development projects even outside the city.

Miracle after miracle that he may receive is also the fruit of his obedience to God. In his testimony, he said, “The important thing is to stay on the track, God alone. I just felt how important it is for us to participate in cell groups (online) because there we are guided to get closer to God, to be more enthusiastic about doing what God commands. “

Yes, when we live in holiness and righteousness before God, it will make us confident. We believe that God will never leave us, and will continue to show us the right path so that each of us can continue to walk into His great plan for our lives. Because a good relationship with God allows us to have divine confidence. People who live well with God will experience freedom, but people who live sinfully will live like slaves. That’s why starting today, commit to living in holiness and righteousness before God, and receive the divine confidence that will change our lives. Jesus bless you.

REFLECTION

Living in HOLINESS and RIGHTEOUSNESS before God makes us confident.

APPLICATIONS

1. Have you been righteous before God? Why?
2. What do you feel and get when you live in holiness and live righteously before God?
3. Write down your commitment to continuing to keep holiness and live righteously before God!

PRAYER

“Jesus, thank you for Your words this afternoon. Continue to teach us to live in holiness and righteousness and sincerely repent of our sins, so that we will be found righteous and pleasing to You. Help me to cling to You, Father so that we may receive the divine confidence. Thank you, Lord. In the name of the Lord Jesus, we have prayed. Amen.”

The Cause We Lose Divine Confidence (Morning)

TODAY’S FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Isaiah 59:1-2

TODAY’S RHEMA

Isaiah 59:2 But your sinful acts have alienated you from your God; your sins have caused him to reject you and not listen to your prayers.

Behind every great person, there are not so great background stories. David before Samuel anointed him as king of Israel, was not a magnificent individual. His own father put so little faith in him. Not thoroughly educated did not know military strategies, unimportant. No one. But there was a time to shine for him. When no Israelites were able to defeat Goliath, David, without proper armor or weaponry, stood alone. With one precise shot from his slingshot, Israelites victory was guaranteed. His fate and Goliath’s destiny were sealed. Not with a sword and an army, but with a small pebble and God’s favor. Because his life was so worthy in God’s eyes, God gave him confidence and from its history went on.

On the other side, we have his rival, king Saul. His posture, skills, experiences, and wealth were all beyond David could comprehend. He had it all. But when Saul acted not according to God’s plan he was alienated at an instant. 1 Samuel narrated how he was terrified and trembled when the Philistines came. His sinful act made God’s guidance incomprehensible for him. When the Philistines marched forward, his head bowed down. Hopeless.

From there we could take a conclusive resume: sins can make God’s favor goes away, and when that happens, victory is just like a castle in the air. Unreachable. Yes, we couldn’t deny skills play a major role but not THE important role. His favor alone could enable you to win the unwinnable battle. Stay away from sin, how small it is. His assistance would enable us to see His plan clearer and act accordingly.

REFLECTION

SIN makes us LOSE confidence.

APPLICATIONS

1. Is there any sin that makes you unable to hear His voice and get closer to Him?
2. In your opinion, what will likely be happening if you do not leave your sins down and repent?
3. Please write down your commitments, in order to get His favor and get new divine confidence!

TODAY’S PRAYER

“Our Lord, You are never leaving me behind. But our sinful acts separate me from Your side and favor. Today, teach me how to repent and receive Your favor. I clearly understand, without You, I couldn’t do a thing. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.”

Do Not Be Afraid, He is with You (Evening)

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Isaiah 41:8-29

RHEMA

Isaiah 41:10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!

Her past life was a tumultuous one. Anna was born into poverty. When she was a senior high school student, her own mother asked her if she wanted to relieve some of her family burdens. Without any hesitation or ill will, she agreed. Unbeknownst to her, her mother sold her into prostitution. She was lucky because she could escape her way out. But eventually, without any place she could run into, she surrendered. Depressed, disappointed, broken-hearted, and hopeless she lived her life as a prostitute.

A glimpse of hope finally emerged. When a client wanted to marry her. She thought to herself maybe this man could save her from this living hell. After just three months, her new husband sold her, again, he was her pimp. Her mother sold her now her husband sold her as well. Her future seemed bleak and dark. She thought maybe, her life wasn’t supposed to be a happy one. After serving her last client she fainted, in her dream, she saw a figure in white. His face was calming and his presence alone soothed her soul. In just a mere moment she knew who he was: Jesus visited her. When she woke up, five hours have passed. Because her name was redacted, maybe you have no idea who she is. She is one of our church members. Jesus raised her up and she in return serves God faithfully. She becomes an active member of our church volunteers and a militant cell group leader. God changed her life.

For Mrs. Anna, Goliath was not a mere biblical figure. She faced it a long time ago and looking at its stature, all hope seemingly lost. Maybe we are struggling against our Goliaths. Our seemingly impossible tasks and crusades. But tonight’s rhema tells us: “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you!” We still have His promise and His promise is yes and Amen. Total healings could not only mend our broken souls and body but our mentalities and emotions as well. His divine confidence would grant us new power and might to face and conquer our problems head-on.

REFLECTION

Do not be AFRAID, for HE IS WITH US.

APPLICATIONS

1. What makes you feel unconfident?
2. What will you want to do to not let the devil intimidate your life?
3. Share it with your cell group, what are your commitments to stay focused on His path?

PRAYER

“Good Father, who accepted us as what and who we are. Help us to raise up from our fears because we clearly understand, You created us with something miraculous in Your mind. Your presence and assistance are real with each passing moment. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.”

Divine Confidence Comes from Close Relationship with God (Noon)

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Psalms 118:1-29

RHEMA

Psalms 118:6 The Lord is on my side, I am not afraid! What can people do to me?

The old testament first mentioned Joshua in Exodus. Our Joshua actually was born bearing the name Hosea ben Nun, from the tribe of Ephraim, house of Joseph. His name was changed because Moses usually called him Joshua, which means, “God is salvation”. He accompanied Moses everywhere. He also climbed Mount Sinai but ordered to stop halfway because Moses ordered him to do so. He waited patiently while Moses speaks to God and watches HIS back. When God commanded Moses to build the Tabernacle, as a place to seek GOD’s will. Inside it, GOD spoke directly to Moses, and while Moses had done, Joshua patiently still waiting inside the Tabernacle, waiting if GOD wanted to speak with HIS lowly servant, Joshua.

This act showed us how Joshua wanted to get closer to GOD. He had an intimate relationship with GOD and GOD really took his prayers and wishes seriously. This closeness made Joshua dared to ask something improbable and impossible. He asked God to make the sun stand still over Gibeon and the moon over the Valley of Aijalon. For a day, the sun stood motionless until Israelites took their rightful vengeance against the Amorites.

GOD loves such confidence, and to prove it, GOD fulfilled his impossible wish. The reason why Joshua had his confidence because he had an intimate relationship with GOD. Divine confidence is different from pride or arrogance. Divine confidence exists because of our close relationship with God because we depend on our lives and our faith in Him. With this new confidence, our lives not only be totally healed but we have a new drive to ask something impossible before. Something that could change the history of our lives to a better one.

REFLECTION

God LOVES it when our confidence COMES FROM OUR CLOSE and intimate relationship with Him.

APPLICATIONS

1. How do you assess your current relationship with God?
2. What drifted you away from God? And how will you plan to do to improve it?
3. Anda? How does your close relationship with God could affect your self-confidence?

PRAYER

“Jesus Christ our LORD, we yearn to get closer to Your side. Not only in our prayer times or meditation, but we also want to improve it to be a new better relationship. In every second of our lives, we yearn to build this strong relationship as Joshua taught us. We want to believe what Joshua did when You are on our side, nothing we could not accomplish. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.”
