Forgive as Father in Heaven Does (Noon)

Colossians 3:5-25

Colossians 3:13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

Andrew’s childhood was filled with bad memories of his father. For him, his father is a scary man and he hated him. Until adulthood, he kept the bad depiction of a father. When he made mistake, his father didn’t hesitate to punish him. Not only with words but also physical actions, such as hitting and even slashing with a belt. Though he roared in pain, his mother did not dare to do anything.

His father didn’t change. Andrew had to obey every word and he couldn’t express his hobbies or preferences. He felt that his childhood and youth were deprived of his father’s pressure. For him, there was no such thing as a relationship of love between him and his father. After Andrew grew into a man and got to know the Lord Jesus, then he realized that all this time he had a bitter heart. He was committed to releasing forgiveness to experience restoration. He wanted to forget all the bad memories of his father

Maybe we have also experienced the same thing or even worse than Andrew. Maybe we have been treated badly by our own parents or even our life was ruined by someone close to us. You know, no matter how bad the treatment we have ever experienced, the Lord Jesus has also experienced it. But even though he was hurt, the Lord Jesus chose not to keep the hurt. God even asked the Father to forgive those who insulted, tortured, and acted very badly against Him. Therefore, as God’s children, it is fitting for us to follow the example of our Father. Even though we are hurt, still forgive. Don’t let us keep the hurt in the heart. By choosing to forgive, we will experience complete release and restoration in our lives.

Even though we are hurt badly, choose to forgive AS THE FATHER FORGIVES us and DOES NOT KEEP THE HURT.

1. Is your heart still hurt?
2. Why do you need to forgive those who have hurt you?
3. What benefits do you get after you forgive?

“Lord Jesus, we want to forgive those who have hurt us. Teach us, Lord, to be able to forgive as You have forgiven us. Thank you, Lord, in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.”
