Have Not Seen Yet Believe (Morning)

Psalm 73:22-23 I was so foolish and ignorant; I was like a beast before You. Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand.

From the small island of Kauai, Hawaii, Bethany Meilany Hamilton was born. Because of her proximity to the sea and beach, at two years old, she was familiarised with surfing. She won her first professional tournament at eight and everything seems like a rainbow and unicorn to her. But before the end of 2003, a tiger shark attacked her while she was surfing with her older brother. The shark bit almost her entire left arm off. Because of that incident, she lost an incredible amount of blood and was in hypovolemic shock. She took her father’s place on the operating table scheduled for his knee surgery. She showed her tenacity after that incident. She surfed again one month after her left arm was bitten. Her spirit cannot be beaten. In January 2004, mere months from her initial tragedy, she returned to professional surfing. She won her first place on NSSA in 2005, with her custom-made surfboard.

She is permanently disabled but she still able to teach us something we cannot fully understand: courage and tenacity. She was once said: I’ve learned life is a lot like surfing. When you get caught in the impact zone, you need to get right back up because you never know what’s over the next wave… and if you have faith, anything is possible, anything at all.
Another biblical figure who shared this unyielding determination was Abraham. He had faith in God. He let God led his life to wherever place God told him to go, even if Abraham had no idea where it was.

Faith enables us to do something extraordinary. Even if we could not comprehend it yet. Our faith lets God leads our course of life. Perhaps, right now, problems come and go seemingly endless problems, but He said: believe in Me. Keep your guard, walk by faith. One thing we can understand is: there is always another wave of hardships, but with Him at our side, He will enable us to overcome those waves and resurfacing on top of it.

FAITH makes us able to KEEP BELIEVING in Him, even though we CANNOT SEE His works in our lives yet.

1. How does your reaction when you face troubles or hardships in your life?
2. Do you already have faith to fight against your life’s hardships and difficulties?
3. What do you have in mind to improve your faith and apply it to your day-to-day lives?

“Jesus, we are grateful for Your plan for our lives. Teach us to stand up, keep believing, and trusting Your words in every aspect of our lives. Because we know, You always handle our lives gently and with precautions. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.”
