The Cause We Lose Divine Confidence (Morning)

Isaiah 59:1-2

Isaiah 59:2 But your sinful acts have alienated you from your God; your sins have caused him to reject you and not listen to your prayers.

Behind every great person, there are not so great background stories. David before Samuel anointed him as king of Israel, was not a magnificent individual. His own father put so little faith in him. Not thoroughly educated did not know military strategies, unimportant. No one. But there was a time to shine for him. When no Israelites were able to defeat Goliath, David, without proper armor or weaponry, stood alone. With one precise shot from his slingshot, Israelites victory was guaranteed. His fate and Goliath’s destiny were sealed. Not with a sword and an army, but with a small pebble and God’s favor. Because his life was so worthy in God’s eyes, God gave him confidence and from its history went on.

On the other side, we have his rival, king Saul. His posture, skills, experiences, and wealth were all beyond David could comprehend. He had it all. But when Saul acted not according to God’s plan he was alienated at an instant. 1 Samuel narrated how he was terrified and trembled when the Philistines came. His sinful act made God’s guidance incomprehensible for him. When the Philistines marched forward, his head bowed down. Hopeless.

From there we could take a conclusive resume: sins can make God’s favor goes away, and when that happens, victory is just like a castle in the air. Unreachable. Yes, we couldn’t deny skills play a major role but not THE important role. His favor alone could enable you to win the unwinnable battle. Stay away from sin, how small it is. His assistance would enable us to see His plan clearer and act accordingly.

SIN makes us LOSE confidence.

1. Is there any sin that makes you unable to hear His voice and get closer to Him?
2. In your opinion, what will likely be happening if you do not leave your sins down and repent?
3. Please write down your commitments, in order to get His favor and get new divine confidence!

“Our Lord, You are never leaving me behind. But our sinful acts separate me from Your side and favor. Today, teach me how to repent and receive Your favor. I clearly understand, without You, I couldn’t do a thing. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.”
