Visible Sign He Loves Us (Morning)
1 Thessalonians 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Still discussing viticulture and pruning. A boy comes to his father, he is the owner of a small vineyard. The father wants his son to continue this vineyard after his death, so he lets him learn about everything while he still around and able. He shows his son how to prune a grapevine. “Why you have to do that? It is painful to the grape, right?” His father smiles hearing his son’s innocence then answer. “Maybe. But cutting some of the vines would help the entire grapevine to grow better and yield more. By removing some of the unessential branches, it could refocus its energy to grow and has bigger and sweeter fruits”.
The man pauses for a moment then continues. “Just like our lives, He the Gardener of our lives prunes us regularly. He cuts dry branches and removes twigs that prevent our growth. Because each of us is unique in its own right, He prunes us differently. For me maybe I have too much ‘laziness’ but for you perhaps it’s ‘envy’ who knows?” Then how does He cut them? He will put you in a difficult yet manageable situation.
Because our lives are His only logical if He demands the best of us. To make our pruning process more bearable, try to be thankful. If gratitude fills our hearts and minds He will be pleased with our reaction, because after all, that’s what He wants from us. He prunes us with love because only loving gardeners would love to see His plants healthy.
We must ENDURE the PRUNING SESSION with gratitude because it’s His method of showing AFFECTION AND LOVE.
1. Did you ever experience a pruning session in your life? What did it affect your life thereafter?
2. Why does God show His affection and love by pruning us?
3. What will you do to show your gratitude while being pruned?
“God, teach us to always be grateful no matter how painful your pruning process is. Forgive our response if sometimes we still cannot endure it and protest. Because it’s Your will and not ours that be done. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.”
